Binance has solidified its role as the preferred destination for Bitcoin holdings, with its reserves swelling by 9,000 BTC – from roughly 650,000 to 659,000 BTC – amid mounting distrust in self-custody solutions. Data from CryptoQuant reveals that this increase accounts for 51% of the net Bitcoin inflow across all centralized exchanges, a clear signal that traders are abandoning personal wallets for the perceived safety of established platforms.
The trend follows the closure or heightened scrutiny of exchanges like BitMEX and BitMart, leaving Binance to capture the vast majority of the flight to centralization. At the same time, Binance disclosed that it now holds more than 60% of the “clean reserves” among the top 10 exchanges, emphasizing its commitment to proof-of-reserve transparency. This dual development underscores a broader market tilt toward custodial exchanges during a period of uncertainty, potentially reshaping trading strategies and liquidity flows.
The growing reserve figures not only boost Binance’s dominance but could also attract institutional investors seeking reliable custody. As competitors face pressure to match these transparency standards, the shift may accelerate the consolidation of Bitcoin on a handful of major platforms, with Binance at the center of that transformation.
