Two Abu Dhabi sovereign investment entities kept their positions in BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF, iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), unchanged during the second quarter, according to 13F filings submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Mubadala Investment Company reported holding 14,721,917 IBIT shares as of June 30, valued at approximately $490.1 million. Abu Dhabi Investment Council held 8,218,712 IBIT shares worth about $273.6 million.
Combined, the two entities reported 22,940,629 shares worth $763,693,539. That rounds to $763.7 million, slightly above the widely cited $763.6 million. The share counts were identical to the March 31 disclosures, meaning the quarter-over-quarter decline in reported value from $881.4 million to $763.7 million — a drop of about $117.7 million, or 13% — reflected IBIT’s lower June 30 market price rather than any net sale.
The unchanged position had different portfolio effects. At ADIC, IBIT’s share of the reported 13F portfolio rose from 32.4% to 38.3%, but only because the overall portfolio contracted by about 27%, including a 78% cut in Nu Holdings shares. At Mubadala, IBIT remained the second-largest reported holding, but its portfolio weight fell from 2.8% to 1.4% as the total portfolio expanded by about 70%, driven by GlobalFoundries.
The filings were submitted on August 13 and 14 and cover holdings as of June 30. They are delayed snapshots, not live positions, and do not reveal current holdings or any direct Bitcoin exposure. Mubadala describes ADIC as a wholly owned entity, so the combined total represents separate reporting entities within the same sovereign investment group rather than independent national bets.
