Two major centralized exchanges are pruning their spot markets in August, with Bybit and Binance both announcing removals of selected trading pairs. Bybit will delist six spot trading pairs effective August 25 at 08:00 UTC: CAMP, WHITEWHALE, CUDIS, PIRATE, TAI, and SVL. The exchange said the move follows a routine review of listed assets focused on liquidity, trading volume, and project compliance.
Bybit advised users holding these tokens to close any open positions and withdraw funds before the cutoff time. After the delisting, deposits of these assets will no longer be supported, and withdrawal services may be suspended, although Bybit typically provides a grace period for withdrawals. Traders should expect potential volatility and quickly thinning liquidity around these tokens.
Separately, Binance announced the removal of seven trading pairs effective August 21 at 03:00 UTC: F/USDC, HIVE/USDC, ILV/USDC, LTC/BNB, NMR/USDC, STEEM/USDC, and SUI/BNB. Binance emphasized that delisting a trading pair does not necessarily remove the underlying assets from the exchange. LTC and SUI, for example, remain tradeable against other base assets such as USDT and BTC. Open orders on affected pairs will be automatically canceled, and users should close positions before the deadline.
The two announcements reflect a broader trend among major exchanges to streamline offerings and remove underperforming or low-liquidity pairs. For smaller-cap assets such as CAMP, WHITEWHALE, CUDIS, PIRATE, TAI, and SVL, delisting from Bybit can reduce accessibility and investor confidence, though some may continue trading on other platforms.
