South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Upbit has announced two separate temporary suspensions of deposits and withdrawals for tokens tied to upcoming hard forks on the Polygon and Monad networks.
The first suspension took effect at 11:00 a.m. UTC on Aug. 18 and applies to all cryptocurrencies operating on the Polygon network, including native token POL and assets such as GMT (STEPN). Upbit said the pause is linked to an upcoming POL hard fork and is intended to protect user funds while the network transitions. The exchange has not given an exact resumption time, saying services will return once the upgrade is complete and stability is confirmed.
The second suspension is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. UTC on Aug. 25 and affects MON, the native token of the high-performance, Ethereum-compatible Monad layer-1 blockchain. Upbit said this pause is also necessary to ensure network stability during the Monad hard fork and to avoid processing invalid transactions.
In both cases, trading on Upbit’s internal order books is expected to continue unaffected; only external deposits and withdrawals on the relevant networks will be paused. Users are advised to avoid initiating transfers during these windows and to monitor official Upbit announcements for resumption updates.
