Bitcoin.com and Universal Digital Intl Limited have announced a strategic partnership to integrate USDU, a UAE-regulated USD stablecoin, into the Bitcoin.com product suite. The announcement was made on August 19, 2026, from Abu Dhabi.
USDU is issued by Universal under the Financial Services Regulatory Authority in the Abu Dhabi Global Market as a Fiat-Referenced Token. It is described as the first and currently only registered Foreign Payment Token under the Central Bank of the UAE’s Payment Token Services Regulation. Each USDU is backed 1:1 by liquid USD reserves held with regulated UAE banks and subject to monthly independent reserve attestations, with an independently audited smart contract and distribution by VARA-licensed Aquanow.
Under the partnership, USDU (ERC-20 on Ethereum) will be added as a supported asset in the self-custodial Bitcoin.com Wallet on web and mobile, enabling users to hold, send, and receive USDU. Swap and buy/sell functionality will follow as third-party provider support becomes available, subject to jurisdictional restrictions. Bitcoin.com will also accept USDU as payment for designated services and work to enable USDU payments between users and merchants where permitted.
Bitcoin.com will publish educational materials about stablecoins and USDU, including in-wallet “Learn-to-Earn” content. CEO Corbin Fraser emphasized that USDU’s central bank registration and monthly attested 1:1 reserves offer verifiable transparency. Universal Senior Executive Officer Juha Viitala said the partnership makes institutional-grade standards accessible to millions of users.
