Key takeaways:

  • Binance's delisting signals tighter exchange standards, amplifying risk for low-liquidity legacy altcoins.
  • Futures settlement precedes spot delisting, creating a two-week window of intense sell pressure.
  • Expect investor rotation toward liquid majors as exchange delisting contagion risks intensify.

Binance has announced it will remove ICON (ICX), Secret (SCRT), and Storj (STORJ) from its platform following a periodic asset review. Spot trading for all pairs tied to these tokens will cease on September 3, 2026 at 06:00 UTC, according to the exchange.

The delisting process extends beyond spot markets. Binance Futures will close and automatically settle existing positions for the three assets on August 26, 2026, with new futures positions prohibited later that day. Binance Margin will suspend borrowing for the affected tokens from August 21, 2026, and the assets will be removed from Cross, Isolated, and Portfolio Margin on August 26.

In its review, Binance said it evaluates factors such as project team commitment, development activity, trading volume, liquidity, network security and stability, public communication, transparency, and community participation. It also considers regulatory requirements, evidence of unethical or fraudulent activity, token supply changes, and shifts in project ownership or core team.

Deposits of ICX, SCRT, and STORJ will not be credited after September 4, 2026. Withdrawals will remain available until November 3, 2026. Binance said users who do not withdraw by the deadline may have their remaining balances automatically converted into stablecoins on November 4, 2026. The exchange urged users to plan transactions before the relevant cutoff dates.
