Gemini Singapore Enables XRP Ledger Transfers

Key takeaways:

  • XRP's 50% weekly surge is driven by ETF inflows and whale accumulation, not Gemini's deposit update.
  • Singapore MPI license still preliminary; final approval would be a bigger catalyst for XRP adoption.
  • Gemini's XRP Ledger support strengthens regulated on/off ramps, but no new pairs limits immediate volume impact.

Gemini has enabled direct XRP deposits and withdrawals through the XRP Ledger for customers in Singapore, expanding the exchange’s support beyond buying, selling and storing the token. The rollout was announced on August 25, 2026 by Gemini co-founder and CEO Tyler Winklevoss.

The new functionality allows eligible Gemini users in Singapore to transfer XRP between their Gemini accounts and external XRPL addresses. Users can deposit XRP from self-custody wallets or other supported platforms and withdraw tokens directly to compatible addresses on the XRP Ledger. Gemini did not announce new XRP trading pairs, fee changes or minimum transfer amounts alongside the launch. Customers are advised to verify the destination network, address and any required destination tag before submitting transfers, as sending XRP through an unsupported network could result in lost funds.

Singapore remains one of Gemini’s core markets. Gemini Digital Payments Singapore received in-principle approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore for a Major Payment Institution license in October 2024, although final approval has not yet been announced. The company consolidated its international operations around the United States and Singapore earlier in 2026 while exiting the United Kingdom, European Union and Australia, including plans to reduce its global workforce by as many as 200 positions.

The XRP Ledger expansion builds on several other Gemini XRP-related products. In July, Gemini added XRP to its derivatives cross-collateral pool alongside Bitcoin, Ether, Tether and Gemini Dollar. Gemini and Ripple previously launched an XRP edition of the Gemini Credit Card offering up to 4% back in XRP on qualifying spending categories. Gemini also enabled deposits and withdrawals of Ripple USD through XRPL in December 2025. Ripple, Mastercard, WebBank and Gemini have been testing RLUSD for Gemini Credit Card settlement.

According to CoinCentral, the update comes as XRP trades near $1.50 after a sharp weekly rise of more than 50%, with recent market activity including about $40 million in spot XRP ETF inflows and large-wallet accumulation of roughly 642 million XRP. Technical charts show a long accumulation phase, rising trading volume and developing breakout patterns, although no distinct XRP price movement could be reliably attributed to the Gemini Singapore announcement.
