Corporate bitcoin accumulation accelerated on August 31, 2026, as two major institutional buyers announced significant additions and a third expanded its Ethereum position. Strive CEO Matt Cole said the firm bought another 1,800 BTC for $143 million at an average price of $79,431, lifting its total holdings to 23,156 BTC. At a market price of roughly $78,000, Strive's bitcoin stash was worth about $1.760 billion.
Separately, Strategy resumed bitcoin purchases after a two-month pause. Co-founder Michael Saylor announced the firm acquired 4,603 BTC for nearly $370 million at an average price of $80,318 per coin. Strategy now holds 845,050 BTC, acquired for $63.73 billion at an average cost of $75,412 per BTC. The company also repurchased $151.8 million of STRC and reported $6.71 billion in USD assets, bringing net leverage to zero. The position was worth about $66.4 billion, turning green for the first time since May.
The Strategy buy stands out because it followed a two-month hiatus during which the company focused on rebuilding its dollar reserves. STRC had fallen as low as $75 earlier amid heavy use for bitcoin purchases but recovered toward $97 as the company paused accumulation. Saylor hinted at the return a day earlier with a post saying, "We're back."
Bitmine also followed with a large Ethereum purchase, adding 53,501 ETH. Its total Ethereum stash reportedly surpassed 5.9 million ETH, representing about 4.8% of the asset's circulating supply.
