The XRP Ledger is seeing a dual push toward more rigorous protocol testing and deeper DeFi functionality. Developer Denis Angell launched a live dashboard at amendments-staging.xrpl.foundation that turns amendment readiness into a public scorecard, while the network’s Automated Market Maker amendment has now reached 80% validator consensus and entered its activation window.
Angell’s tool reads each amendment’s full specification surface directly from the node, tracking transaction types, optional fields, flags, result codes, and ledger entries. The dashboard watches devnet activity and marks each element green if a validated transaction has exercised it, or red if it remains untested. As of this week, the dashboard is watching 16 amendments on devnet, and 13 still have untested surface. The largest gaps are in Sponsor with 65 of 107 possible checks never exercised, XChainBridge missing 30 of 40, and MPTokensV1 short 27 of 102. The scan also found 59 issues: two spec bugs, 23 documentation gaps, and 34 test gaps.
Angell explained: “Every new XRPL feature ships as an amendment. Validators vote it in, and once it’s active it’s part of the protocol for good. That deserves real evidence that the feature has been exercised end to end on devnet, not just tested in isolation.” XLS-75 permission delegation closed out its remaining test gaps this week, reaching full coverage across all 122 checks and 12 granular permissions.
Separately, the XRPL AMM amendment reaching 80% validator consensus is a meaningful milestone because it starts the required holding period before native AMM functionality can be enabled. It does not mean the feature is already fully active; support must hold through the activation window. A native AMM would let users trade through liquidity pools rather than traditional order books, potentially expanding XRPL beyond payments and settlement toward more direct DeFi use cases. The development follows a rocky upgrade cycle: CryptoPotato reported in July that Ripple’s v3.2.0 update had remained unadopted by more than half of XRPL nodes weeks after release, even as 89% of trusted validators had moved to it.
