Aerodrome Finance’s AERO token has moved sharply higher, climbing roughly 20% in 24 hours to near $0.6483 on September 8 and about 34% over the past week. The advance pushed AERO above its 20-, 50- and 200-day moving averages and cleared the $0.60 level it had struggled to hold for most of the year. Daily trading volume rose close to 303% to around $161 million, according to market data.
The rally followed a surge in tokenized-equity trading on Coinbase’s Base network, where Aerodrome acts as the main settlement layer. On-chain listings for Amazon, Microsoft, Tesla, SpaceX, Strategy and SanDisk have driven cumulative tokenized-stock volume above $250 million within two weeks. Because Aerodrome charges fees on swaps and returns a share to AERO lockers, heavy stock trading is feeding directly into token demand. Aerodrome also handled 54% of Bitcoin-to-dollar volume across EVM decentralized exchanges in July, more than every other EVM DEX combined.
In another adoption catalyst, lending venue Tenor OTC confirmed on September 7 that it has started accepting AERO as collateral for fixed-rate borrowing on Base. Aerodrome’s ve(3,3) model remains central to the token’s value loop, but its emissions-to-revenue ratio is still 1.75, meaning the protocol emits more than it collects, compared with a cycle low near 0.29. Continued swap volume growth could lower that ratio and improve the balance between real usage and token supply growth.
Separately, on-chain data highlighted by @nansen_ai shows Smart Money holdings in AERO increased 74% over the past month, from about 4.2 million to 7.26 million tokens, while fresh wallets entered the market. The pending Aero merger remains the largest unresolved catalyst. Announced by Dromos Labs in November 2025, the plan would combine AERO and Velodrome’s VELO into one AERO asset with no new minting, split 94.5% to AERO holders and 5.5% to VELO holders, and expand to Ethereum mainnet and Circle’s Arc. The originally guided Q2 2026 launch has not yet shipped.
Technical indicators are stretched but bullish. The daily RSI sits near 76, above the overbought threshold of 70, which could point to a pause or shallow pullback. If $0.60 holds as support, traders are watching $0.85 as the next resistance. Dated triggers include a Token Operator Boost on September 21 and an ongoing public code audit ahead of the Aero codebase. Until Dromos announces a firm merger date, the token’s trajectory is likely tied to Base activity and broader risk appetite.
