Strive Bitcoin Holdings Rise Above 24,500 BTC After $109 Million Purchase

Key takeaways:

  • Strive's relentless BTC buying signals institutional conviction despite Bitcoin's sub-$80K consolidation.
  • SATA preferred-stock funding reveals leverage-driven accumulation, increasing sensitivity to Bitcoin downturns.
  • Divergence from Strategy's buyback pause may refocus market attention on ASST's financing model.

Strive has continued its weekly Bitcoin buying cadence, with CEO Matt Cole announcing on X on Sept. 8 that the company acquired an additional 1,375 BTC for $109 million at an average price of $79,281 per bitcoin. The purchase lifted Strive's total corporate Bitcoin holdings to 24,531 BTC, worth approximately $1.9 billion at Bitcoin’s prevailing price around $78,200.

The announcement resolved speculation that began after Cole posted a cryptic treasury-related message on Sept. 7 without confirming a purchase. Before that message, ASST stock had closed at $27.14 on Sept. 4, up 1.19%, as investors tracked the company’s Bitcoin strategy and preferred-stock financing.

The latest purchase followed several large August additions. Strive previously disclosed it bought 1,800 BTC between Aug. 24 and Aug. 28 at an average price of about $79,431 per coin, raising its holdings from 21,356 BTC to 23,156 BTC. Earlier disclosures showed weekly additions of 1,110 BTC, 147 BTC, and 79 BTC during August, as well as 6,236 BTC acquired in the second quarter and 12,237 BTC purchased in the first half of 2026.

Cole tied the new acquisition to Strive’s preferred-stock financing vehicle, SATA, noting that 70% of the capital raised last week came from SATA, which now has $999 million notional outstanding. He added that it was “time to break the billion-dollar wall,” referring to the company’s continued use of the Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Preferred Stock to fund Bitcoin accumulation. Strive’s Class A common stock trades on Nasdaq under the ticker ASST.

The announcement also highlighted a divergence from Strategy, the largest corporate Bitcoin holder. Unlike the previous week, when both firms disclosed Bitcoin purchases, Strategy said it stayed on the sidelines and focused on repurchasing its STRC shares. Strive had not filed a new Bitcoin acquisition with the SEC by Sept. 7, leaving the X post as the first public disclosure of the latest buy; formal confirmation is expected in a subsequent filing.
