On September 10, 2026, MoneyGram officially launched the MoneyGram Card, a stablecoin-backed Visa card that lets customers hold a dollar balance backed by stablecoins and spend it anywhere Visa is accepted. The product is accessible directly through the MoneyGram app and can be added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet as a digital card. The card is live first in Colombia, with global expansion planned in the coming months.
The initial rollout runs on Circle’s USDC stablecoin, while MoneyGram’s own dollar-backed token, MGUSD, is set to be added later. MGUSD launched on the Stellar network in June and is issued by Bridge, a stablecoin infrastructure company owned by Stripe. The card was built with stablecoin payments firm Rain, wallet provider Crossmint and the Stellar network.
Customers can use the card to pay online, tap to pay in stores, or transfer funds to themselves for cash pickup in local currency at MoneyGram locations worldwide. MoneyGram plans to release a physical card later in 2026 that will also support ATM withdrawals.
MoneyGram serves over 60 million active customers across more than 200 countries and territories and has nearly 500,000 retail locations globally. According to PaymentScan data, stablecoin card spending volume crossed $1.1 billion in August. MoneyGram is also listed as a partner in Open USD, the Stripe-led stablecoin initiative that shares revenue with a group of backers.
CEO Anthony Soohoo said the card gives customers more freedom and control to manage their money in one place. The launch positions MoneyGram among a growing group of companies connecting stablecoin balances to everyday payment networks, building on 85 years of the company moving money around the world.
