Pi Network has released Pi Desktop 0.6.3, a significant update that broadens the project’s node software beyond blockchain validation and introduces a formal naming shift. The Core Team said future releases will be called Pi Desktop versions instead of Pi Node versions following the 0.6.3 implementation.

The release fixes an issue that could cause SoloHost login tokens to expire after the desktop software had been running for several days.

Another notable addition is a new SoloHost repository structured to be easily understood by AI agents. The Core Team said this should help AI tools assist developers more effectively when building SoloHost applications. The move follows earlier additions including OpenClaw and the Atlassian MCP Server, which demonstrated how Pi Desktop could support local AI agents and AI-integrated professional workflows.

The broader ambition is distributed computing. Pi Network previously completed its first distributed-computing test through SoloHost, in which five volunteer Node operators received, processed and returned computing jobs using their own devices. The project has said longer-term plans would allow third-party applications to tap spare computing capacity from more than 420,000 claimed Node operators, with participating Pioneers potentially receiving Pi tokens in return. While the latest update does not complete that model, it adds another piece of infrastructure for self-hosted apps, AI services and eventual distributed computing.
