Bitcoin exchange-traded funds suffered their largest weekly outflow in 10 weeks, losing $462.7 million, even as the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF ($VOO) pulled in $13 billion in a single week, according to Farside Investors data and commentary from ETF analyst Eric Balchunas.
The VOO inflow surge brought the fund's year-to-date total to $131 billion, just below last year's $137 billion annual record and about six times larger than any other ETF's weekly intake. That strength in large-cap equities contrasted with a more cautious crypto market, where U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs gave back less than half of the $987 million they absorbed in the previous week.
Daily Farside data showed outflows of $46.6 million on September 8, $120.2 million on September 9, $282.7 million on September 10 and $13.2 million on September 11. The pullback was not uniform: some individual funds still attracted capital, suggesting selective demand despite the overall negative streak.
Total U.S. spot bitcoin ETF assets remained substantial at $97.58 billion, while cumulative net inflows stood near $55.16 billion. Bitcoin traded around $77,267, with the $83,000-$86,000 zone acting as the main overhead resistance for any recovery attempt.
The divergence between booming equity ETF demand and bitcoin ETF outflows may reflect near-term caution in crypto, even as broader institutional risk appetite remains intact. This article is for informational purposes only and does not constitute financial advice.
