San Francisco-based Ripple has participated in a $10 million funding extension for Velocity, a London-based stablecoin payments platform. The extension brings Velocity's Series A total to $48 million and lifts the company's valuation to $200 million.
Velocity is focused on improving payment settlement efficiency by connecting traditional financial infrastructure with stablecoin rails. Its platform aims to let stablecoins function as an always-on settlement layer for merchants, financial institutions, fintech firms and payment providers.
Alongside Ripple, the round drew support from Activant Capital, Capital One Ventures, QED Investors, Coinbase Ventures and Wintermute Ventures. Visa Ventures and Circle Ventures were also named among notable backers, reflecting broader industry confidence in stablecoin-based payments.
Ripple has become a significant stablecoin player through its RLUSD token. According to CoinGecko, RLUSD has a market capitalization near $2.4 billion, ranking it among the largest cryptocurrencies. The company also agreed in August 2025 to acquire stablecoin payments firm Rail for $200 million.
Earlier this month, Velocity and MVB Financial announced a Visa Direct pilot, with Velocity's technology enabling stablecoin-based liquidity to be plugged into MVB's infrastructure. The new funding is expected to support further development of payment and treasury operations.
