Binance Wallet has formally opened a new subscription channel for tokenized pre-IPO exposure, with the first Pre-Access campaigns hosted by PancakeSwap and available through self-custodied Binance Wallet accounts. The announcement, made on September 20, 2026, positions Binance to compete in an early but growing market for onchain exposure to private companies that may eventually go public.
The program lets users subscribe during defined campaign windows. Participation quotas can be increased through Binance Alpha Points, onchain bStocks trading volume, and bStocks holdings, while assets remain under user control through self-custodied wallets. Binance has not yet disclosed the first participating company, token issuance price, implied valuation, redemption mechanism, or the legal structure connecting the instrument to the underlying private equity.
Binance Research estimates that tokenized pre-IPO products from Republic and PreStocks currently have a combined market capitalization of just $41 million, underscoring how early this segment remains. In contrast, pre-IPO perpetual futures have expanded sharply: combined open interest in Anthropic and OpenAI pre-IPO perpetuals surpassed $160 million in September, up from roughly $1 million in April, with Binance accounting for about one-third of that market. Aggregate pre-IPO perpetual volume reached $436 million in June, while September volume had already passed $98 million after only 14 days.
Binance emphasized that Pre-Access exposure is not the same as owning shares. Most tokenized pre-IPO instruments represent contractual claims linked to private-company shares rather than direct ownership. Depending on the structure, holders may be creditors, indirect beneficiaries, fund investors, or holders of derivative claims. Risks include issuer counterparty exposure, dilution, fees, lockup periods, and uncertainty about whether the private company recognizes the token structure. Some companies only approve share transfers, so token ownership may not translate into a position on the capitalization table.
The first Pre-Access campaign will provide key details: who issues the token, what backs it, how its value is calculated, and what happens if the expected IPO never occurs. Until then, the product is best understood as a tokenized subscription instrument rather than direct private-equity ownership.
