Hsin-Ju Chuang, a former partner at crypto venture capital firm Hack VC, was pronounced dead at age 37 on Aug. 24, 2026, one day after announcing that she would release what she described as evidence connected to her employment dispute with the firm. The promised disclosure, scheduled for Aug. 26, has not appeared in public archives reviewed by multiple outlets.
According to a San Bernardino County coroner record, California Highway Patrol officers responded to southbound Interstate 15 south of Field Road in Harvard at 9:47 p.m. on Aug. 24. Chuang, of North Las Vegas, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released a cause of death, and no public reporting has established a connection between her death and the dispute with Hack VC.
On Aug. 23, Chuang posted on X that she had rejected a settlement she said would have required her to remain silent about her experience at the firm. She said she had parted ways with her lawyers at Sanford Heisler and planned to publish evidence on Aug. 26. In archived posts, she alleged that she was coerced into working through a grave medical issue, threatened with blacklisting, and later faced retaliation and problems with her COBRA health insurance. These allegations have not been independently verified.
Chuang also shared Ethereum and Solana wallet addresses in a separate request for support, not as part of the promised evidence package. She wrote that going public could involve expensive lawsuits and described a financial imbalance between an individual and a major venture firm. On-chain records can show transfers, but linking addresses to specific individuals or motives requires outside evidence.
Hack VC co-founder and managing partner Alexander Pack said the firm was shocked and saddened by Chuang's death and offered condolences. He said Hack VC had not spoken directly with Chuang for more than 10 months and was not aware of the circumstances surrounding her death. Hack VC also said it removed a public post about the incident after observing public discussion, stating it did not want its comment to add to hostility toward Chuang.
Chuang's professional background included founding Dystopia Labs and serving as head of growth at both Stellar and Solana before joining Hack VC as a venture partner in 2021. She was promoted to partner and head of platform in 2025. Her visibility across two major layer-1 ecosystems made the unresolved dispute and her death a focal point for broader conversations about workplace conduct in crypto venture capital.
SEC records identify Hack VC Management, LLC as a registered investment adviser under file number 801-126321, with a Form ADV amendment dated July 30, 2026. That filing confirms the firm's regulatory status but does not resolve the employment allegations. The evidence package Chuang promised for Aug. 26 remains absent from the public record, leaving the allegations unsubstantiated and key questions unanswered.
