Canada’s First Regulated Stablecoin CADD Goes Live on Solana

Key takeaways:

  • CADD's Solana debut signals regulated stablecoin diversification, potentially boosting SOL utility beyond USD-pegged dominance.
  • Copycat CADD tokens on Solana highlight mint-verification risks as regulated assets enter permissionless rails.
  • Watch CADD transaction volume for signs Canadian businesses shift away from USDT and USDC routing.

Tetra Digital Group has officially expanded CADD, a Canadian-dollar stablecoin, to the Solana blockchain, according to announcements on September 25, 2026, with the token going live on Solana on September 23. Lily Hansen-Gillis of Tetra confirmed that each CADD token is backed on a 1:1 basis by Canadian-dollar reserves and can be used for payments, transfers, treasury operations and settlement.

The rollout is a Solana expansion, not the original launch: CADD had already been deployed on Ethereum, Base and Tempo earlier in 2026. Tetra describes CADD as the first Canadian-dollar stablecoin issued by a regulated financial institution. By choosing Solana, Tetra cited not only speed but also the network’s capacity to support large institutions seeking on-chain financial solutions, aligning with growing institutional adoption in the crypto sector.

Shortly after the Solana launch, Tetra warned users that copycat CADD tokens were appearing on the permissionless network and published the official mint address. The company emphasized that verifying the official mint is as important as checking the issuer behind the asset, highlighting practical security concerns when regulated assets move onto public blockchains.

The development positions Solana as a serious contender for institutional finance and regulated stablecoin infrastructure. While stablecoin activity remains dominated by U.S. dollar assets such as USDT and USDC, CADD does not need to rival them globally; it only needs to make moving Canadian dollars onchain useful enough that businesses stop automatically routing through U.S. dollar stablecoins first. Market participants will be watching whether this launch accelerates Solana’s adoption and opens the door for more regulated financial products on the network.
