CoinMarketCap announced on Friday, September 25, 2026, that it has acquired crypto derivatives data platform Coinglass. The deal has already closed, though financial terms were not disclosed.
Coinglass will continue operating under its own brand, and its team, website, app, free tools, API and pricing will remain unchanged, according to both companies.
Founded in 2019, Coinglass tracks derivatives data including open interest, funding rates, liquidations and options across 28 exchanges and more than 2,500 trading instruments. It serves over 5 million monthly users and more than 10,000 API customers. Its liquidation heatmap and open interest dashboards are widely shared in crypto trading communities.
CoinMarketCap says 115 million people visit its platform each month. By adding Coinglass, it aims to show derivatives positioning data next to spot price data, including where liquidations are clustering and how funding rates are shifting.
Rush, CEO of CoinMarketCap, said Coinglass built its reputation by focusing on one thing and doing it well, and that CoinMarketCap wants to make that data available to a larger audience. David Salamon, Chief Product Officer, added that open interest, funding and liquidations show where risk is actually taken in the market.
CoinMarketCap is owned by Binance, which acquired it in April 2020 with assurances of operational independence. CoinMarketCap has not said whether Coinglass data will be integrated directly into its main price pages; for now, the two platforms will continue running as separate products under the same parent company.
