Key takeaways:

  • K36's 30% AI R&D pledge signals security as a competitive moat in regulated gaming.
  • Cambodia's regulatory focus may attract institutional capital, but compliance risks could deter short-term speculators.
  • No direct crypto catalyst here; monitor AI compliance and gaming regulation for Web3 token spillover.

With one month until SPiCE Southeast Asia 2026, the gaming and entertainment industry is preparing for back-to-back Eventus International summits across Southeast Asia. The fifth edition of SPiCE Southeast Asia will take place from 5–7 August 2026 at The Landmark Bangkok, while the third annual SPiCE International 2026 is scheduled for 5–6 November 2026 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The Bangkok event opens with the SP'iCE Breaker Welcoming Evening and the SPiCE Southeast Asia Eventus Awards Ceremony on 5 August. Day two will focus on regulatory frameworks, operational infrastructure, KYC, AML and fraud compliance, responsible participation and risk intelligence. The final day shifts to localisation, audience design, AI as a strategic enabler, workforce development and marketing in regulated markets.

K36, described as a professional B2B platform provider, is confirmed as a sponsor and exhibitor. The company said its mission is to deliver “speed, security, and stability” while helping operators achieve sustainable growth. K36 also said it commits 30% of its revenue to AI research and development, with platform security as its highest priority. It cited AI-powered defensive capabilities as a response to emerging cybersecurity challenges.

For Cambodia, Eventus International said SPiCE International 2026 arrives during a period of heightened regulatory focus and renewed attention on sustainability, legitimacy and investor confidence. Tim Shepherd of Fortuna Investments said the conversation is no longer simply about access to opportunity but about building something sustainable and credible for the long term. Tim Nguyen added that Cambodia is a market to watch closely and the sector is at a genuine turning point.

The Phnom Penh agenda will span regulatory strengthening, compliance and governance, market entry, investment opportunity, operational best practice, technology and innovation, and trusted partnerships. The event will place a stronger emphasis on exhibition and commercial engagement, with sponsorship and exhibition opportunities still available.
