Key takeaways:

  • MON’s stablecoin-driven rally hinges on 2027 execution, leaving ample time for sentiment to fade.
  • Derivatives volume at 15.6x spot signals speculative froth, raising liquidation risk for MON longs.
  • Watch MON’s $0.027 support; a break could erase stablecoin-buzz gains amid overbought RSI.

Monad’s native token MON extended a sharp rebound on October 1, 2026, climbing as much as 23.35% over 24 hours to trade near $0.03291, after StraitsX confirmed plans to bring its Singapore dollar stablecoin XSGD and US dollar stablecoin XUSD natively to the Monad network in early 2027. Over seven days, the token gained roughly 32–35%, with 24-hour spot volume reaching between $125.3 million and $145.2 million, depending on data source, and market capitalization approaching $388.6 million.

The rally pushed MON through key technical levels. It traded in a 24-hour range between $0.02716 and $0.03444, with former resistance around $0.027 now acting as support. The Relative Strength Index stood near 69.23, reflecting strong momentum but also approaching overbought territory. Derivatives activity also accelerated: perpetual futures open interest hit $188.2 million, close to half of MON’s market capitalization, while derivatives volume measured 15.6 times spot volume. Eight-hour funding rates were positive at 0.0108%, indicating bullish positioning but also rising liquidation risk.

StraitsX announced on X that it is collaborating with Monad to bring XSGD and XUSD natively to the high-performance EVM network. XSGD would become the first Singapore dollar-denominated stablecoin issued natively on Monad. The plan remains subject to technical, regulatory, and compliance steps, and no exact launch date was provided. StraitsX issues stablecoins through entities licensed under Singapore’s Payment Services Act 2019 and said the Monetary Authority of Singapore views both assets as compliant with its upcoming stablecoin framework.

StraitsX CEO Tianwei Liu said XSGD on Monad could support new card and payment products, while Monad Foundation General Manager Keone Hon said the network is built for fast, low-cost payment infrastructure. Monad currently holds about $692 million in stablecoins, according to the report.

In addition to stablecoin expansion, Monad published a post-quantum roadmap on September 28, prioritizing wallet protection before consensus, staking, the EVM, proof systems, and an encrypted mempool. Work has started on a post-quantum version of Cadence, Monad’s consensus mechanism, with a target window of 2028 to 2029 for several components. The Monad X account also teased “Privacy is coming” ahead of its Open Summit on October 6, without offering technical details, while existing developer tools already support private transactions using zero-knowledge proof technology.
