Hyperliquid has received its first 14,580,777.21 USDC payment from a new reserve-yield mechanism, marking the first distribution under its Aligned Quote Asset v2 (AQAv2) framework. The payment arrived on October 3 at the network’s system interest address, according to onchain data. It represents roughly 90% of eligible net yield earned on USDC reserves and is earmarked for the Hyperliquid Assistance Fund, which uses protocol revenue to buy HYPE tokens on the open market.
The receipt is the first of three stages. The USDC remains in the system interest address and has not yet been transferred to the Assistance Fund, and no HYPE purchases have been made with these funds. Yield began accumulating on August 26, with the first payment arriving about five weeks later. The framework was approved by validators in June with approximately 69.08% support. Coinbase serves as the USDC treasury deployer, while Circle provides the underlying stablecoin infrastructure.
The new revenue source adds to Hyperliquid’s existing fee-funded buybacks. September fee-funded HYPE purchases were estimated at approximately $55.67 million, making the first reserve-yield payment equivalent to roughly 26% of that monthly amount. Unlike trading fees, reserve yield depends on USDC balances and interest rates rather than market activity, meaning significant stablecoin liquidity can keep generating income even when trading volumes decline.
HYPE traded at $93.04 on Monday, October 5, up 2.92% on the day and 3.36% on the week, with a market capitalization of $23.31 billion. The token has gained about 92% since its early August low of $50.98 and sits roughly 5% below its September 22 peak of $97.90. On the daily chart, the advance has compressed into a rising wedge, with lower support near $91 and upper resistance near $100. RSI stands at 59.30, showing a bearish divergence after reaching only about 70 at the September high, compared with an RSI above 80 in late August. A daily close below $91 would put $86.83 and the 50-day average at $83.04 in play, while a close above $97.90 would open a test of $100.
Bloomberg Terminal now displays select Hyperliquid perpetual prices through the WSL HYPE command, but does not offer trade execution. Meanwhile, about 238 million HYPE, or 23.8% of genesis supply, belongs to core contributors and has been unlocking monthly since late 2025 on a schedule running into 2027-2028. Bitwise chief investment officer Matt Hougan has credited token buybacks as a primary driver of HYPE performance.
The next milestones are the onchain transfer of the 14.58 million USDC into the Assistance Fund and the following reserve-yield payment, with the current 30-day period closing around October 25 and payment due in early November.
