Key takeaways:

  • Hashi's $500M launch capital could drive SUI demand as Bitcoin collateral activity grows.
  • Institutional Bitcoin holders may earn yield without moving BTC off Bitcoin network, boosting utility.
  • Watch SUI volatility near mainnet as execution risks could temper institutional inflows.

Sui has announced that Hashi, its native Bitcoin finance infrastructure, will go live in a phased mainnet rollout beginning this month. The announcement was made on October 8, 2026, at Sui Basecamp in Singapore.

Hashi enters mainnet with more than $500 million in committed capital from a launch coalition of over 20 crypto heavyweights. Anchorage Digital, home to America's first federally chartered crypto bank, has joined as a day-one launch partner, giving institutional clients access to Hashi and bringing additional stablecoin liquidity to the network.

The project targets more than $1 trillion in Bitcoin that remains largely idle because institutions and publicly traded companies have lacked a way to use native BTC in programmable financial markets with the transparency, compliance, controls, and security they require. Bitcoin remains on the Bitcoin network, while Hashi coordinates its use as collateral through Sui smart contracts.

Lending, borrowing, credit, vaults, structured products, and other applications will launch with capital already behind them in vaults run by providers such as Aftermath, Concrete, and Fluid. Anchorage Digital will open Hashi to clients through tri-party collateral solutions via its Atlas settlement infrastructure, and through self-custody via its institutional wallet Porto. It also plans to provide stablecoin liquidity.

Mysten Labs Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer Adeniyi Abiodun said Bitcoin has become a global reserve asset and that Hashi is launching with serious capital and a coalition of industry leaders because institutions want to put Bitcoin to work without giving up required protections.

Anchorage Digital CEO and Co-Founder Nathan McCauley added that connecting institutional clients with Hashi represents a paradigm shift and maturation of Bitcoin finance. Hashi has moved from concept to devnet, testnet, more than 20 launch partners, and now more than $500 million in committed capital, with Bitcoin becoming productive collateral on Sui at the end of this month.
