Key takeaways:

  • EvolvingX's 70% cost reduction could pressure digital asset platforms to upgrade, improving market reliability.
  • Adoption risk remains high until proof-of-concept converts, as incumbents may resist infrastructure migration.
  • Watch HashKey and ChainBase integrations as signal for institutional crypto infrastructure demand, not token hype.

OceanBase launched EvolvingX, a database solution designed for next-generation digital platforms, during TOKEN2049 Singapore on October 9th, 2026. The Singapore-based announcement targets digital asset platforms that require financial-grade reliability across order management, market data, risk control and ledger systems.

EvolvingX promises always-on performance with high throughput and low latency. In a three-node configuration, it can sustain 150,000 high-frequency writes per second, with 99% of writes completing within 1 millisecond and 99% of queries finishing within 20 milliseconds. OceanBase says end-to-end API latency is kept below 100 milliseconds, a 30% reduction compared with traditional architectures.

The platform also features automatic load balancing to eliminate single-point hotspots, demonstrated by six-node tests where CPU utilization stayed evenly between 14% and 22%. It can reduce monthly infrastructure costs by nearly 70% by replacing heterogeneous instances with a standardized cluster, while offering full MySQL compatibility in a proof-of-concept covering eight categories and 30 scenarios.

EvolvingX includes multi-region disaster recovery, layered encryption, and a Paxos-based three-replica architecture for strong consistency. Its in-database AI and hybrid search capabilities allow teams to run AI models directly against live data. OceanBase said it previously supported digital asset firms such as HashKey and ChainBase, and plans to expand support for the broader ecosystem with the new solution.
