Uniswap generated a reported $14.81 million in protocol revenue during September 2026, its strongest month since the decentralized exchange began retaining a portion of trading fees under the fee switch. Data published by Token Terminal on October 17 shows Robinhood Chain contributed $7.87 million, or 53% of the total, more than any other chain.
The fee switch stems from the UNIfication proposal introduced in November 2025 and approved through governance in December 2025. Instead of distributing all trading income to liquidity providers, Uniswap can now retain part of eligible pool fees and direct them into contracts supporting UNI burns. In a Uniswap v2 example, a 0.30% swap fee is split between a 0.05 percentage point protocol fee and 0.25 percentage points for liquidity providers, meaning $100 million in eligible volume produces roughly $50,000 in protocol fees and $250,000 in LP fees.
September's record also exposed concentration risk. Robinhood Chain's share of Uniswap revenue climbed from 20% in July to 40% in August and 53% in September, leaving $6.94 million generated across remaining deployments. A hypothetical 25% decline in Robinhood Chain revenue, with other contributions unchanged, would cut Uniswap's monthly total by about $1.97 million, or 13.3%.
Importantly, protocol revenue is not the same as completed UNI burns. Collected assets pass through fee adapters into TokenJar contracts, and authorized releasers such as Firepit allow participants to withdraw eligible assets in exchange for burning UNI. Uniswap's September 18 governance update confirmed protocol fees had expanded to eleven additional chains beyond Ethereum mainnet.
Despite the revenue growth, UNI remains under price pressure. On October 17, UNI traded near $7.17, approximately 29.7% below its September high around $10.20. Technical indicators showed RSI at 42.83 and MACD at -0.1943, with support around $7.00 and resistance near $7.80 to $8.00. The divergence suggests traders are weighing future fee durability, liquidity provider compensation, and verified UNI burns rather than reacting solely to one month's revenue record.
