A prominent technical analyst and a Bloomberg Intelligence strategist are presenting sharply different scenarios for Bitcoin (BTC), mapping key levels while debating whether a macroeconomic shock could pull the cryptocurrency far below recent highs.
Aksel Kibar, known for his technical analysis in crypto markets, said two important bullish signals have recently emerged in Bitcoin. The first appeared when BTC broke above the $67,200 level, which he interprets as completion of an inverse head and shoulders (IHS) pattern. The second signal came when Bitcoin broke above the upper boundary of a long-running rectangular formation. However, Kibar noted that Bitcoin is now sharply retesting that breakout.
Kibar emphasized risk management around the $82,800 level, saying the last low formed within the wide rectangular pattern can be considered a broader stop-loss level for this technical signal. He also highlighted the lowest point of the right shoulder in the inverse head and shoulders structure. If price falls below that low, he argued, the bullish formation could become invalid and could generate a sell signal.
Meanwhile, Mike McGlone, senior commodities strategist at Bloomberg Intelligence, suggested that a sharp correction in US stock markets could drag Bitcoin down to $10,000. McGlone said that if US stocks fell by 20 percent, Bitcoin could drop to that level. He noted that Bitcoin has led the rise in risky assets since 2009, but recent macroeconomic developments could signal a significant break in markets. Among developments to watch, he listed Bitcoin surpassing $100,000 in 2025, gold exceeding $5,000 in the first quarter of 2026, increasingly cautious central bank policies, and a sharp rise in government bond yields.
Crypto analyst Darkfost pushed back, calling the $10,000 scenario extremely unlikely. He argued there is no historical precedent for a 20 percent US stock market correction leading to a nearly 92 percent drop in Bitcoin from its peak.
