Blockchain.com has launched options trading for eligible users, expanding its Trading Account product suite. The rollout was announced on October 20, 2026, from Valletta, Malta, and is positioned as a simplified way for retail users to trade short-term crypto market views with defined risk.
At launch, users in supported jurisdictions can buy call and put options on Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Solana (SOL), Hyperliquid (HYPE), Avalanche (AVAX), XRP and TRON (TRX). Contracts have expiries of up to one week and must be held until settlement; they cannot be sold or closed early. Trades are funded upfront in USDC from the Blockchain.com Trading Account, and the amount paid represents the maximum possible loss. The minimum premium is $5, excluding fees.
The user flow is designed to reduce complexity: traders select an expiry date and target price, enter a trade amount, and review the trade before confirmation, after which Blockchain.com translates the view into the corresponding call or put option. Live market prices are shown directly in the trading experience.
According to Taro Ugen, VP of Consumer at Blockchain.com, the company built the options experience around the decisions that matter to traders—market direction, timing, and the amount they are prepared to commit—while handling complexity in the background. Blockchain.com said the options launch follows its introduction of perpetual futures trading earlier this year.
Blockchain.com also confirmed that earlier in October it applied for U.S. regulatory licenses to offer prediction markets and crypto derivatives. The company already offers prediction markets through Polymarket and perpetual futures through Hyperliquid to some international users. Since its inception in 2011, Blockchain.com reports supporting more than 95 million wallets, 44 million confirmed accounts, and over $1.1 trillion in crypto transactions across more than 70 jurisdictions.
