Key takeaways:

  • Pendle's RWA dominance signals fee-driven demand, but concentration risks may amplify volatility.
  • XRP Ledger's RWA surge boosts XRP utility; watch institutional retention for sustainability.
  • J.P. Morgan's $13T forecast supports long-term RWA sentiment, but near-term hype warrants caution.

The market for tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) received a major institutional endorsement as J.P. Morgan projected the sector could reach $13 trillion by 2030, roughly 40 times current on-chain valuation. The forecast, highlighted via Pendle’s CryptoTwitter account, points to accelerating demand for platforms that tokenize traditional financial instruments.

Pendle is already expanding its footprint in that segment. The decentralized finance platform has launched more than 100 RWA markets this year, and those markets now represent approximately 85% of its total value locked, underscoring how central tokenized real-world assets have become to its yield-generation infrastructure.

Separately, the XRP Ledger recorded a $6.3 billion peak in tokenized assets during October, according to data shared by crypto commentator X Finance Bull. While values have retreated slightly from the record, they remain near $6 billion. The network currently hosts 423 real-world assets valued at $4.47 billion, with 30-day RWA transaction volume reaching $7.03 billion, a 1,458% increase. Stablecoins represent another substantial segment, with combined value of $1.06 billion and transaction volume of $6.27 billion across the XRP Ledger.

Institutional interest is also expanding. X Finance Bull identified Ondo Finance and Franklin Templeton among organizations associated with tokenized products on the ledger, while Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin contributes to payment and settlement use cases. The broader opportunity was framed around roughly $150 trillion in assets that could potentially be tokenized across blockchain networks.

Ripple Prime has separately expanded institutional access to real-world asset markets by launching perpetual swaps covering more than 100 traditional financial markets. The brokerage infrastructure allows clients including Virtu to trade equities, commodities, ETFs and foreign exchange exposures around the clock, including weekends, through contracts listed on Hyperliquid and referencing Trade.xyz perpetual futures contracts. Michael Higgins, International CEO of Ripple Prime, said the move reflects the growing connection between traditional finance and digital trading infrastructure.
