Key takeaways:

  • NEAR Business could boost NEAR demand by anchoring institutional treasury activity onchain.
  • Privacy-first treasury tools may attract funds, but regulatory scrutiny remains a key adoption risk.
  • Watch NEAR token utility and fee flows as adoption validates this institutional push.

NEAR Protocol has officially introduced NEAR Business, a confidential treasury management platform aimed at crypto-native companies, investment funds, digital asset firms and institutional teams. Announced on October 20, 2026, the service consolidates payments, asset swaps, capital allocation and balance management into a single dashboard spanning more than 35 blockchains and over 200 assets.

Supported networks include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and NEAR itself, alongside ecosystems such as Arbitrum, Base, Avalanche, the XRP Ledger, Sui and TON. The platform is designed to help organizations manage employee payroll, vendor payments, cross-chain swaps and portfolio operations without maintaining separate wallets, signing procedures and interfaces for each blockchain.

A key feature is privacy. Transaction amounts, recipient details and treasury balances remain confidential, while governance records stay publicly checkable. Organizational members, roles and approval votes are recorded on-chain, allowing external verification of internal controls without exposing sensitive financial information.

Under the hood, each organization controls a self-custodial Treasury Contract deployed on NEAR. The contract enforces custom approval thresholds, and after the required signers approve a request, NEAR's multi-party computation network completes transaction signing. Funds reside within the NEAR Intents protocol, and NEAR Business holds no keys capable of unilaterally moving assets or overriding organizational rules.

Cross-chain execution is powered by NEAR Intents, which abstracts away traditional bridging steps and destination-chain gas requirements. Additional capabilities include bulk payments via manual entry or CSV upload, hardware wallet signing through Ledger, support for multiple treasuries, named and verified contacts, and exportable transaction histories for accounting and external audits.

Access is initially invitation-only during a private beta, with interested organizations able to request a walkthrough through the NEAR Business website. Pricing removes subscription, annual commitment and per-seat charges. The platform sponsors network fees for the first 1,000 actions each month, after which standard fees apply, while token swaps incur a 0.35 percent fee only when executed.
