Dogecoin is defending a crucial support zone near $0.0792 after weeks of selling pressure pulled the meme coin down from September highs around $0.10. DOGE changed hands near $0.0806 on Oct. 21, up about 1% on the day, but remains below key moving averages and a descending trendline.
On Oct. 17, DOGE traded around $0.0807, briefly touched $0.0815, then slipped toward $0.0798 before buyers returned. Crypto analyst Ali Charts highlighted a TD Sequential buy signal near $0.081, suggesting a possible trend reversal. A successful defense of the $0.0792 horizontal support could open a move toward $0.085 and possibly $0.09. Conversely, a daily close below that level may expose DOGE to the $0.0680 area, an important base from August.
Technical indicators remain cautious. The daily RSI was reported near 35.8 on Oct. 17 and around 39 on Oct. 21, while MACD remains below zero. The 50-day EMA sits at $0.0859, the 100-day EMA at $0.0854 and the 200-day EMA at $0.0919. Analysts see initial resistance at $0.0854–$0.0859; a daily close above $0.0912–$0.0919 would be needed to ease the bearish structure, with the prior trendline break near $0.1033 as the next target.
Derivatives data shows perpetual futures open interest at about 15 billion DOGE, down from 15.7 billion the prior day and from above 17 billion in August. That indicates softer leveraged positioning while price consolidates near $0.0800. Trader Tardigrade pointed to a megaphone pattern on the daily chart, noting higher highs and lower lows with price bouncing from the lower trendline. He sees the upper trendline near $0.108 as the next potential stop if the pattern repeats.
On-chain activity remains stable despite price weakness. Transaction counts climbed to more than 32,000 on Oct. 13, while active addresses averaged over 33,000 daily during a recent week. Large holders moved roughly 1.93 billion DOGE in transfers of at least one million tokens, suggesting continued whale participation.
Ecosystem development is also in focus. DogeOS, built by the MyDoge wallet team, launched a public testnet in late September. It operates as an EVM-compatible zero-knowledge rollup, with applications charging gas fees in DOGE instead of Ether. Developers can build trading services, lending applications, games and stablecoin platforms, with several projects already appearing across lending, trading, gaming, AI and launchpad sectors.
Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve’s Oct. 28 policy decision is being watched. The CME FedWatch Tool shows an 83% chance the Fed holds rates steady and a 17% chance of a 25-basis-point hike. Broader supply and adoption data remain relevant: Motley Fool writer Anthony Di Pizio noted Dogecoin is down almost 90% from its 2021 high of $0.73, with a market cap near $12.71 billion. Up to 5 billion new coins can be mined each year against roughly 156 billion in circulation, about 3% annual dilution, and only 2,373 businesses worldwide accept DOGE, according to Cryptwerk.
