Nvidia Unveils New AI Data Center Pod as Intel Faces Further Downside Risk

Key takeaways:

  • AI infrastructure demand remains strong, but crypto AI tokens may need fresh catalysts to rally.
  • Nvidia's China orders suggest sustained compute spending, a positive signal for decentralized AI projects.
  • Intel's weakness highlights rotation risk; traders should watch earnings for broader tech sentiment spillover.

Technology markets presented a split picture on Wednesday, with Nvidia shares climbing 2.44% after the chipmaker introduced a modular artificial intelligence data center design, while Intel remained under pressure as technical analysts warned of additional losses.

At its GTC Berlin 2026 conference, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang unveiled the DSX POD AI Factory reference design, a shipping-container-sized system weighing about 28,000 kilograms that is intended to reduce AI infrastructure deployment time from months to weeks. Huang said an AI factory creates value when it starts producing tokens, not when construction is complete, and added that DSX POD brings factory-built precision and speed to AI infrastructure construction.

Nvidia also signed a joint declaration with Germany to advance industrial AI through the Industry 4.0 Platform, working alongside partners including Siemens. The company announced support for German startups Agile Robots, Avelios Medical, Mirelo and Reflex Aerospace as part of a broader European AI ecosystem commitment valued at nearly $10 billion. Separately, Nvidia introduced its OpenShell Reference Architecture for AI agent safeguards and a humanoid robot reference design with Agile Robots.

Demand from China remained a significant focus. ByteDance, Alibaba and Tencent have reportedly ordered more than 3 million Nvidia RTX PRO 5500 graphics cards, with a combined potential value above $35 billion. Goldman Sachs reiterated a Buy rating and maintained a $300 price target, saying Nvidia's announcements reinforced that AI deployments remain on track, though they may not produce an immediate stock move.

Meanwhile, Intel shares have dropped 34% from their all-time high, with market capitalization falling from $707 billion to $493 billion. Analysts applying the Wyckoff Method see the stock transitioning from distribution into a markdown phase, with potential downside toward the 50% Fibonacci retracement level of $80 and then the 61.8% retracement near $65 if selling accelerates.

Intel's next catalyst is its earnings report due next week. Revenue is expected to rise 20% to $16.47 billion, with the most optimistic estimate near $17 billion. Earnings per share are forecast at $0.40, up from $0.23 a year earlier. In the previous quarter, Intel revenue jumped 25% to $16.1 billion, including 59% annual growth in its data center and AI business. Risks include a broader AI slowdown and competition from Nvidia's recently launched CPU.
