Michael Saylor has again sparked Bitcoin speculation with a cryptic social media post, writing on Oct. 23 that he was “Just resolving a few Bitcoin matters behind closed doors.” The 14-second Matrix-style video gave no purchase amount, transaction date, or financing details, but it landed days after Strategy disclosed two consecutive weekly Bitcoin purchases.
According to Strategy’s latest Form 8-K, the company acquired 267 BTC between Oct. 12 and Oct. 18 at an average price of $82,900 including fees, spending about $22.1 million. That followed 250 BTC bought during Oct. 5–11 for $21.5 million at an average price of $86,194. Combined, Strategy purchased 517 BTC for $43.6 million across the two weeks. Its total holdings reached 848,517 BTC, acquired for $64.02 billion at an average cost of $75,446.
Funding for the latest purchases came overwhelmingly from common-share sales. The filings show 140,872 MSTR shares sold for about $22 million in the latest week and 125,183 shares sold for $21 million the prior week. Across the two periods, common-stock proceeds covered approximately 98.6% of Bitcoin spending, with only $600,000 coming from cash.
At the same time, Strategy repurchased $385.5 million of its STRC preferred stock over the two weeks, about 8.8 times what it spent on Bitcoin. The company restated its STRC trading range objective of $99–$100 and said its board expanded the preferred-security repurchase authorization from $2 billion to $3 billion.
Because Saylor’s earlier posts have sometimes preceded purchase announcements—such as his Oct. 11 “There’s always room for more orange” message before a 250 BTC disclosure—the latest tease has left the market watching for Strategy’s next update.
