The XRP Ledger is moving forward with a security upgrade that has secured 94% support from validators, but the network’s native lending functionality will not be part of the November 4 activation. According to the latest governance update, the lending proposal remains ten validator votes short of the required threshold, leaving decentralized lending on XRPL in a waiting state.
Although the upgrade will go live as planned, the lack of approval for the lending amendment means the activation will not unlock lending functionality. The outcome highlights the XRP Ledger’s consensus-driven upgrade process, where separate amendments can progress independently. Core security improvements will proceed, while DeFi participants will have to wait for further validator support before native lending can launch.
