Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a criminal complaint on November 5, 2026, against BG Limited, the operator of cryptocurrency exchange Bitget, over alleged unlicensed digital asset business activities. The regulator claims Bitget provided cryptocurrency trading services to Thai customers between 2022 and 2025 without the required local authorization.
Authorities plan to restrict access to Bitget’s primary website, associated domains, and mobile application starting December 5, 2026. The SEC says Bitget facilitated crypto purchases and sales as a regular commercial service while collecting transaction fees. It also cited localized marketing efforts, including a Thai-language website, baht-denominated values, and promotional campaigns on X, Telegram, and TikTok.
The complaint was submitted to Thailand’s Economic Crime Suppression Division. A separate action names Kritsana Kritsananuwat, who allegedly promoted Bitget through the Facebook page Srisiam and YouTube channel SRISIAM. Thai users have been urged to review accounts and withdraw holdings before the deadline. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society has authority to block unlicensed platforms under 2025 measures. The regulator also warned that users of unauthorized platforms may not receive the same legal protections as customers of locally licensed operators. The filing does not establish guilt, and prosecutors and courts will determine next steps.
The planned restriction reflects Thailand’s widening oversight of offshore cryptocurrency exchanges and highlights the difference between global availability and local regulatory authorization.
