The intersection of traditional finance, digital assets and artificial intelligence is reshaping hiring priorities across the Web3 industry, according to KuCoin Head of Talent Acquisition Karina Li. Speaking at Web3 Career Connect, an official community event held as part of Hong Kong FinTech Week x StartmeupHK 2026, Li said companies are increasingly seeking professionals who combine blockchain and cryptocurrency knowledge with established financial disciplines such as risk management, regulatory compliance and corporate governance.
During the panel “Inside Web3: Building Businesses, Teams & Careers,” Li explained that while technical expertise remains important, the growing convergence of digital assets and traditional financial services is expanding recruitment requirements. She also highlighted how AI integration is changing skill requirements and opening potential career paths for candidates from finance, technology and other professional backgrounds.
“Building services that users can trust requires sustained investment in people,” Li said. “Professional depth and continuous learning help young talent contribute as the industry evolves.” She stressed structured training, mentorship and practical experience as essential for graduates to build independent judgment and assume greater responsibilities.
In a separate session titled “How to Make the Right Career Choices in the Crypto Era,” Li advised university students and recent graduates to evaluate employers based on business fundamentals, long-term industry demand and opportunities for professional development rather than focusing exclusively on emerging trends. She recommended gaining practical experience through internships and projects before expanding into additional specializations, and choosing roles that offer meaningful responsibilities, regular feedback and transferable skills.
KuCoin’s participation in the event emphasized the growing importance of combining financial knowledge, technological capabilities and continuous professional development as the digital asset industry becomes increasingly connected with traditional finance.
