JPMorgan is intensifying its blockchain and digital asset efforts, and its latest long-term capital market outlook places Bitcoin at the top of expected returns. In its 2027 Long-Term Capital Market Predictions, the bank projects Bitcoin can deliver a 10% compound annual return over the next decade, exceeding private equity at 9.8%, large-cap US stocks at 7.5%, a 60/40 equity-bond portfolio at 7%, and smaller portfolios at 5.5%. The report also estimates Bitcoin's correlation with US large-cap stocks at 33%, underscoring its potential diversification role.
The bank's blockchain push runs through its Kinexys division, focused on faster payments, improved settlement, and tokenized assets. JPMorgan sees tokenization as a way to modernize financial infrastructure while maintaining regulatory safeguards. Although these products do not directly depend on Bitcoin, they reflect growing institutional comfort with digital asset infrastructure, which could eventually support custody, trading, and investment products tied to BTC.
Grayscale's head of research, Zach Pandl, reviewed the report and emphasized that Bitcoin is gaining more acceptance in institutional investment circles, though its portfolio role remains under discussion. He noted that a 33% correlation with large-cap US stocks is lower than foreign stocks, corporate bonds, and hedge funds, leaving room for diversified investment. Combined with JPMorgan's expanding tokenized money market fund activity and broader Wall Street adoption, the developments reinforce Bitcoin's long-term institutional narrative without guaranteeing immediate price gains.
