A sharp selloff in AI-related stocks spilled into crypto this week, dragging Bitcoin toward the $75,000 level that traders now view as the market's floor. Buyers stepped in, but the bounce has been thin so far. Most large altcoins followed Bitcoin lower, yet a small group held its ground — including privacy coins Monero and Zcash, along with the meme token Pepe and the trading project Lighter.
The privacy trade had momentum before the drop. Zcash jumped about 10% on Nov. 6 after its NU7 network upgrade went live, trading near $1,366 that day and pulling fresh attention to Monero. The split now defines two different trades: risk-off money is leaving already weak coins while holding those with relative strength.
Monero traded near $614 on Thursday, flat over the past day, up about 4% for the week and roughly 11% for the month. XMR sits above its 50-day moving average near $571 and well above its 200-day average near $467. RSI reads 56, firm but not overheated, while MACD has slipped under its signal line, suggesting momentum is cooling after the recent run. The nearest daily ceiling sits near $648; a daily close above it could open a path toward roughly $684. Monero's all-time high stands near $798 from Jan. 14, 2026.
Solana sits on the other side of that filter. SOL traded near $89.95, flat on the day but down about 7% for the week and about 23% over the past month. It trades below its 50-day average near $101 and its 200-day average near $97.82, so both lines now act as ceilings. RSI reads 31, just above the oversold mark of 30, and the MACD remains under its signal line. The first ceiling sits near $97.59, close to the 200-day line, with sellers waiting around $104. Below the price, support sits near $77.84, with the next floor around $72.34.
The main risk sits outside crypto. Another leg down in AI stocks could push Bitcoin through its recent floor and drag both coins lower. Strength currently favors Monero, while Solana remains a bounce candidate that still needs to retake its overhead averages.
