On May 6, Uniswap Labs announced the integration of Soneium, Sony Block Solutions and Startale Labs' new Layer-2 blockchain, into the Uniswap platform. Users can now bridge, trade, and provide liquidity on Soneium using the Uniswap wallet and web app. Soneium, which launched its mainnet in January 2025, is focused on digital entertainment, enabling creators and fans to connect onchain and protecting intellectual property. The network has already been used for NFTs related to popular anime, digital concert collectibles, and event ticketing in Japan.

Sony's goal is to bring its creative ecosystem onto the blockchain, making it easier for global users to participate. Startale CEO Sota Watanabe remarked that partnering with Uniswap allows Soneium to reach a global audience, combining leading DEX infrastructure with scalable Layer-2 technology. Uniswap Labs emphasized that this move furthers its mission of open, permissionless markets, giving creators broader earning potential.

This integration follows Uniswap's continued growth, including its Unichain Layer-2 chain processing $5.7 billion in trades, launching liquidity rewards, and reaching $3 trillion in total swap volume. The recent closure of the SEC investigation into Uniswap removes regulatory uncertainty, paving the way for deeper U.S. market entry.
