KuCoin Launches Fully Licensed Crypto Exchange in Thailand Amid Regulatory Expansion

KuCoin has officially launched KuCoin Thailand, a fully regulated cryptocurrency exchange operating under Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This launch marks the debut of the first locally licensed platform under the KuCoin brand, following the April 2025 acquisition and rebranding of ERX Company Limited, Thailand's first SEC-supervised crypto exchange. KuCoin Thailand offers crypto-to-crypto trading as well as fiat integration, including Thai Baht on-ramp and off-ramp services, and is now open to all eligible users in Thailand after an invite-only pilot phase.

This move highlights KuCoin's commitment to compliance and security, supported by recent SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certifications. KuCoin Thailand joins a competitive market that includes eight other SEC-licensed exchanges like Bitkub, Upbit, and Gulf Binance. The launch corresponds with ongoing progressive regulatory development and rising adoption within Thailand's active crypto sector.

KuCoin also plans to expand further internationally by seeking a Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) license in Europe, with an application submitted in Austria in February 2025. The company aims to enhance its presence in fast-growing Southeast Asian markets and provide secure crypto services to users locally. KuCoin anticipates benefiting from Thailand's initiatives to facilitate crypto payments for tourists via credit card integrations.
