BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes has executed over $16 million in altcoin purchases within five days, accumulating significant positions in Ethereum (ETH), Hyperliquid (HYPE), Ethena (ENA), Lido DAO (LDO), Pendle (PENDLE), and Ether.fi (ETHFI). Blockchain tracker Lookonchain revealed Hayes acquired 1,750 ETH ($8M), 58,631 HYPE ($2.8M), 3.1M ENA ($2.3M), 1.29M LDO ($1.8M), 184,610 PENDLE ($1M), and 420,000 ETHFI ($504K) through exchanges like Binance and Kraken, plus decentralized protocols.
The acquisitions strategically target staking, synthetic assets, and DeFi infrastructure tokens amid market volatility. Notably, Hayes repurchased ETH after briefly selling it earlier in August, publicly joking he'd "never take profit again." His portfolio aligns with surging assets: ETH rose 50% monthly, HYPE nears its $50 ATH, and ENA gained triple digits in 30 days.
Despite focusing on altcoins, Hayes maintains bullish Bitcoin forecasts, projecting $250K short-term and $1M by 2028, citing anticipated Federal Reserve money printing. Analysts view his concentrated bets—particularly on emerging projects like Hyperliquid's governance token and Ethena's synthetic dollar ecosystem—as confidence in Web3's infrastructure growth during uncertain markets.
