Telegram CEO Pavel Durov announced the launch of Cocoon, a decentralized AI compute network, at the Blockchain Life 2025 forum in Dubai. Cocoon, which stands for Confidential Compute Open Network, is built on the TON blockchain and aims to create a marketplace for computational resources without central control.
GPU owners can contribute computing power to the network and receive TON tokens as payment, while developers gain access to low-cost AI services for applications like text summarization and message drafting. Telegram will serve as the first major client, integrating Cocoon directly into its app ecosystem of over one billion users to enhance features while prioritizing user privacy by keeping data within a confidential computing environment.
The platform is designed to be censorship-resistant and market-driven, with transparent pricing. Durov emphasized that this model avoids monopolistic control and supports digital freedom. Cocoon is scheduled to launch in November 2025, and applications are now open for both hardware providers and software developers.
Following the announcement, Toncoin saw a price increase of approximately 1%, trading at around $2.26, reflecting growing interest in TON-based solutions. This initiative marks Telegram's continued expansion into blockchain services after earlier TON integrations for payments.
