BGA 2025 Forum Celebrates Blockchain Projects Driving UN Sustainable Development Goals

The Blockchain for Good Alliance (BGA), a non-profit founded by Bybit, successfully concluded the Blockchain Impact Forum 2025 in Copenhagen from November 4 to 5, held in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Alternative Finance Lab (AltFinLab). The event brought together over 300 policymakers, technologists, and impact leaders from more than 30 countries to explore how blockchain can advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Forum opened with an invite-only 'Chains of Change' leadership day focused on governance, digital public infrastructure, and cross-sector partnerships, followed by the BGAwards on the second day, which featured the SDG Blockchain Accelerator Showcase highlighting projects in financial inclusion, sustainability, and digital trust.

Key themes included Blockchain for Digital Public Goods (covering digital identity and transparent data systems), Finance for Inclusion and Impact (examining blockchain's role in democratizing capital access), and Sustainability and Climate Accountability (showcasing carbon tracking and supply chain traceability). Prominent speakers included Helen Liu, Co-CEO of Bybit and BGA Founder; Robert Pasicko of UNDP AltFinLab; Frederik Gregaard of the Cardano Foundation; David Ripley of Kraken; Kurt Nielsen of Partisia Blockchain; Nina Rong of the Arbitrum Foundation; Sunny Lu of VeChain; and Prof. Morten Meyerhoff Nielsen of the United Nations University.

Helen Liu stated, "Blockchain technology has matured beyond speculation. At the Forum, we saw how builders, governments, and institutions are using it to foster transparency, accountability, and tangible social impact." The BGAwards 2025 recognized projects with cash prizes: SDG Blockchain Accelerator winners received $2,000 each (Genius Tags, Plastiks, ZenGate), while incubation winners included Kelox ($10,000), Token Tails ($30,000), and others in joint initiatives awarding up to $30,000.

Liu emphasized, "What we witnessed in Copenhagen is a movement taking shape — where blockchain offers a shared infrastructure for trust and accountability." The Forum reinforced the need for public-private collaboration to align blockchain innovation with global development goals.
