Two publicly traded companies, Capital ₿ and Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy), have executed significant Bitcoin purchases in early February 2026, reinforcing their long-term accumulation strategies despite recent market price declines.
Capital ₿, a French company, acquired an additional 5 BTC for €0.32 million on February 9, 2026, via Swissquote Bank Europe SA. According to Alexandre Laizet, the company's Board Director of Bitcoin Strategy, this purchase brings its total holdings to 2,828 BTC. The company has been steadily building its position, with notable past purchases including 624 BTC in June 2025 and 551 BTC in September 2025. These acquisitions have helped lower its average cost per coin. Capital ₿'s Bitcoin is held in custody by Swiss fintech firm Taurus, and its purchases are funded through mechanisms like a recent €150,000 capital increase. The company ranks 28th globally among public Bitcoin holders.
Strategy (MicroStrategy) reported in an SEC 8-K filing that between February 2 and February 8, 2026, it purchased 1,142 Bitcoin at an average price of $78,815 per coin. This acquisition, financed through the sale of Class A shares, brings its colossal treasury to 714,644 BTC, representing roughly 3.4% of the total Bitcoin market. The company stated its DAT (Digital Asset Treasury) strategy would only face issues if Bitcoin traded between $8,000 and $25,000 for an extended period.
At the time of the announcements, Bitcoin's price was experiencing volatility. Capital ₿ noted Bitcoin was hovering around $68,515 (down 2.4% in 24 hours), while Strategy's purchase price was above the then-current trading level of approximately $70,800. Both companies emphasize a disciplined, long-term approach to accumulation, unfazed by short-term price fluctuations.
