Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026 is set to begin on Monday, June 8, with a keynote at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET, streamed live via the Apple Developer app, Apple’s website, and YouTube. The event is expected to be one of the company’s most significant software updates in years, focusing heavily on artificial intelligence and a major overhaul of Siri.
The revamped Siri will leverage Google’s Gemini technology to become a more conversational assistant capable of understanding context, handling multi-step tasks, and interacting across apps. A standalone Siri app is also anticipated, directly competing with advanced AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Claude. The assistant will move into the iPhone’s Dynamic Island, and users will be able to swipe down from the center of the screen to start a conversation.
In a notable shift from Apple’s traditional control over its entire tech stack, the company will power the new Siri using Nvidia’s Blackwell B200 processors hosted in Google’s data centers. Previous plans to run Gemini on Apple’s Private Cloud Compute infrastructure proved too slow, so Apple turned to Nvidia’s hardware, enabling confidential compute to encrypt user data during cloud processing. The company is expected to retain the Private Cloud Compute branding despite the external infrastructure.
Additional reveals include a new Visual Intelligence section in the Camera app with a dedicated Siri mode and Google Image Search integration, AI-powered enhancements in the Photos app, and upgrades to the Image Playground app with higher-quality generation and editing controls. The Wallet app will gain a bill-splitting feature that uses receipt photos to generate payment requests, plus a “Create a Pass” tool for digital passes from physical items.
This WWDC represents a strategic inflection point for Apple as it moves beyond simple voice commands toward a platform-level AI ecosystem, directly challenging OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic. For consumers, the overhaul promises a more useful and context-aware assistant across all Apple devices.
