Shibarium, the layer-2 scaling solution for Shiba Inu, experienced a dramatic but short-lived spike in on-chain activity. According to data from Shibariumscan, daily transactions skyrocketed from just 738 on August 8 to 4,480 on August 9 — a 507% increase that marked the highest level in about a month.
The uptick, however, proved unsustainable. By August 10, the transaction count had plunged back to 831, returning to the low baseline that had characterized recent weeks. This pattern mirrors several similar episodes in previous months, including a July spike that briefly pushed transactions to 2,570 before a swift retreat.
Behind the scenes, development work on Shibarium continues to advance. Developer Mazrael reported that the team has expanded 18 documentation pages covering key features for builders: ERC-4337 gasless transactions (via Paymaster), a Crypto Payments API, hosted on-chain data endpoints, and the ShibaSwap SDK. These resources are intended to lower the barrier for creating consumer applications on the network.
The broader crypto market’s tentative recovery, as noted by Glassnode, provides context: improving institutional flows and less defensive options positioning are contrasted by subdued spot liquidity and weak on-chain activity, suggesting that any lasting momentum remains elusive.
