US spot crypto ETF flows strengthened in early August, led by Bitcoin and Ethereum products, while XRP fund inflows remained selective. Bitcoin ETFs pulled in approximately $853.5 million from August 3 through August 7, reversing the previous week’s weakness and nearly five times July’s inflow of $172.4 million. Daily readings were $170.1 million, $211.5 million, $244.4 million, about $128.8 million, and $98.85 million. BlackRock’s IBIT dominated with roughly $693 million of the five-session total, representing around 81% of net buying.
Still, the recovery remains uneven. US spot Bitcoin ETFs were about $4.5 billion negative for 2026 after recording $5.4 billion in first-half outflows. Ethereum ETFs posted their strongest week in nearly four months during the week ending August 7, buying about $244.94 million of ETH. August 7 alone added $49.6 million, with BlackRock’s ETHA contributing $38.15 million and Fidelity’s FETH adding $11.45 million. Total spot ETH ETF assets reached $10.74 billion, equal to roughly 4.65% of Ethereum’s market capitalization. Fidelity also filed to allow its Ether fund to stake up to 100% of holdings and distribute quarterly rewards, adding a potential yield component alongside staking and liquidity considerations.
The streak continued into mid-August. On August 18, US spot Ether ETFs recorded approximately $71.4 million in net inflows, a fourth consecutive positive session, according to Farside Investors. BlackRock’s ETHA again led with $64.7 million, more than 90% of the day’s total. Grayscale’s Mini Ether ETF added $2.7 million, Bitwise’s ETHW $1.4 million, Invesco’s QETH $1.1 million, and Grayscale’s legacy ETHE posted a modest $1.5 million inflow. Ether traded in the $2,600–$2,700 range amid broader risk-asset recovery, anticipation of Ethereum network upgrades, and rising preference for regulated investment vehicles.
In XRP markets, cumulative ETF inflows reached about $1.51 billion while XRP traded near $1.05. The token remains well below its August 2025 peak of $3.38, and near-term action still depends on holding the $1 area. Institutional positioning is mixed: JPMorgan exited its reported Bitwise XRP ETF position, and BlackRock said it has no immediate plan for a spot XRP ETF.
