Major altcoins are facing renewed downside pressure as of August 18–19, according to technical forecasts from BitcoinWorld and CaptainAltcoin. XRP has lost the psychologically important $1 level, Cardano’s ADA is in a steep decline, and Solana remains capped below key resistance. Chainlink, meanwhile, is testing a fresh breakout level after days of consolidation.
XRP currently trades around $0.99 after testing the $1 resistance. The failure to reclaim $1 keeps the bearish setup intact, with analysts warning that continued rejection could push the price toward $0.97. A successful breakout above $1 could open the path to $1.02 and possibly $1.03, but momentum indicators offer little conviction. XRP’s RSI sits at 46.182, Stochastic at 53.219, Ultimate Oscillator at 45.826, and Bull/Bear Power at just 0.0011, showing a near-neutral to mildly bearish bias.
Cardano’s ADA is described as being in a freefall, underperforming peers and reflecting weaker holder confidence as well as reduced trading volume. The decline is being amplified by asset-specific headwinds beyond the broader market uncertainty. Solana is not falling as aggressively but is trapped below $77.4 resistance, with a narrow range between $76.2 and $77.4. A break above $77.4 could send SOL toward $80, while losing $76.2 may expose it to $74.7. Solana shows the strongest indicator readings among the group, with RSI at 60.417, Stochastic at 74.551, and Bull/Bear Power at 1.384.
Chainlink has broken above $9.58 resistance and briefly touched $9.70. The retest of $9.58 as support will determine whether LINK can extend higher or fall back into its consolidation range between $9.28 and $9.58. A failure could push LINK toward $8.97. LINK’s RSI of 62.437 gives buyers an advantage, though the Ultimate Oscillator at 46.056 remains relatively weak.
Overall, the altcoin market is showing sustained downward pressure, with assets differing between losing key support, facing resistance, or attempting breakouts. Investors are advised to monitor technical levels closely, as the current setups highlight the importance of asset-specific analysis amid ongoing volatility.
