KuCoin has achieved ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification for its Artificial Intelligence Management System, the company announced on August 20, 2026. The certification is recognized as the world’s first certifiable international standard for AI management systems, marking a step in KuCoin's effort to build trusted AI across its global digital asset platform.
The exchange said AI is increasingly embedded in digital financial infrastructure and supports critical platform functions including risk management, anti-money laundering, fraud detection, market surveillance, customer service, product intelligence and operational automation. KuCoin emphasized that responsible AI requires accountability, transparency, continuous oversight and governance throughout the AI lifecycle.
BC Wong, CEO of KuCoin, said greater AI capability must be matched by greater responsibility. “We believe the future of the industry will not be defined simply by more advanced AI, but by more trusted AI,” Wong said. He added that the certification demonstrates the company’s commitment to transparent, accountable AI designed to strengthen user trust.
The new ISO/IEC 42001 certification joins KuCoin’s existing trust and security credentials, including ISO/IEC 27001 for information security, SOC 2 Type II for operational reliability, and ISO 22301 for business continuity and operational resilience. KuCoin, founded in 2017, serves over 45 million users across more than 200 countries and provides access to more than 1,500 digital assets.
In recent years, KuCoin has also expanded its regulatory footprint with AUSTRAC registration in Australia, a MiCA license in Europe, and progress in other markets.
