Uniswap’s UNI token recorded its highest-ever daily burn value on August 21, reaching approximately $590,000. The burn permanently removes UNI tokens from circulation and was driven by activity across multiple chains: Ethereum contributed about $267,000, Base about $165,000, and Robinhood Chain about $87,000.
In token terms, the burn totaled roughly 150,000 UNI, the second-largest daily burn by coin count, trailing only the 186,000 UNI burned on June 5. The mechanism is tied to Uniswap’s fee-switch, which uses a portion of protocol fees to buy back and burn UNI, introducing deflationary pressure on supply.
This milestone highlights growing usage of Uniswap’s cross-chain protocol and rising DeFi activity. While the burn does not guarantee price appreciation, sustained high burn rates could support token scarcity and long-term value if demand remains stable or grows.
