CoinMarketCap Launches CMC AI Endpoints for Pro API Developers

Key takeaways:

  • API-driven AI insights may accelerate algorithmic trading, reducing reliance on manual crypto news interpretation.
  • Structured CMC AI data may sharpen sentiment strategies, yet source bias remains a key risk.
  • Watch AI credit expansion to free tiers, potentially democratizing tools but boosting herd behavior.

CoinMarketCap has introduced a new CMC AI endpoint family within its Pro API, extending the AI-generated insights already visible across its homepage and Coin Detail Pages into structured, developer-ready data. The announcement was made on September 10, 2026, from Kwai Chung, South Korea. The endpoints return the same questions, answers, and underlying source links in JSON format, allowing developers to integrate them directly into products rather than relying on the website display.

The release includes three endpoints. A market feed covers trending narratives, sentiment, momentum, and top news, refreshed every 30 minutes. A per-cryptocurrency endpoint provides a fixed set of questions for each of the top 100 assets by market capitalization, including why a price moved today, upcoming roadmap items, and codebase changes. A coverage map shows which assets currently have content available. Each answer is returned pre-split into a short summary and a longer body in markdown, with canonicalized and deduplicated source URLs and a count of total sources behind the answer.

CoinMarketCap emphasized that content is retrieved from its database rather than generated on request, making responses consistent and repeatable. CEO Rush said: “CoinMarketCap has been the industry’s leading reference point for crypto data for over a decade. These new CMC AI endpoints make that API data even more powerful, because developers can now pull the number and the reasoning behind it in a single call, with the sources attached.”

The new AI endpoints join an existing interface that already includes spot and derivatives markets, decentralized exchange and on-chain data, real-world assets, proprietary indices such as the CoinMarketCap Fear and Greed Index, and real-time streaming under a single API integration. At launch, the CMC AI family is available on Enterprise plans. A separate monthly AI credit allowance that opens the endpoints to all other plan tiers, including the free tier, is scheduled to follow in a subsequent release. Full parameters, response fields, and worked examples are published in the CoinMarketCap Pro API reference.
